Dining Room - Privé

The Dining Room at Privé is Reine & La Rue’s private dining room, offering an intimate extension of the restaurant in an exclusive setting.

Accessible via its own private entrance, the Dining Room occupies the former Melbourne Safe Deposit building, one of the city’s most distinctive nineteenth-century landmarks. Experience Reine & La Rue’s signature service, hospitality and culinary style into a completely private setting.

The Dining Room can accommodate up to 36 guests. Designed for flexibility, it can be seamlessly divided into two smaller rooms, The Wardell Room and The Verdon Room, for smaller groups of 7 to 18 guests.

Groups of all sizes are required to dine from one of our set menus.

The Verdon Room

Named after George Verdon, the Gothic Bank’s original General Manager, widely credited for the opulent and highly customised interiors of the bank’s residential quarters.
Seats up to 18.

The Wardell Room

Named after William Wardell, the original architect of the Gothic Bank also responsible for the St Patrick’s Cathedral and Government House in Melbourne.
Seats up to 14.

The Dining Room in inspired by the original bank governor’s private residence within the Gothic Bank precinct. Designed to impress, the residence was defined by its opulence, material richness, and considered aesthetic, featuring ornate joinery, paneling, and curated materials.

This influence is reinterpreted through a space that is both purposeful and restrained—where materiality leads, balancing form with refined utility. The result is an environment of understated elegance, designed to foster comfort, ease, and quiet sophistication.
